Middle School Band

Band and chorus is officially underway for our 5th and 6th grade students! Our young singers are already hitting the right notes and working on proper vocal health and technique. Meanwhile, beginning band students have received their new instruments and are making their first exciting sounds!

Returning band members are diving into lessons that focus on ensemble development and sight-reading skills. As part of our rotating schedule, students will partake in pull-out lessons once a week, ensuring they receive personalized attention. This is in addition to our full ensemble rehearsals that take place once a week during the "accelerate" block, where we are making great use of the full hour to create beautiful music together. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic year for our music program.

Middle School Band Day: October 25th, 2024

On October 25, the music program held its first annual middle school band day. SHRMS band students were invited to join the Marching Eagles at the homecoming football game. Ranging from beginners to students with several years of experience, 5th and 6th grade band members got to know the high school students that play the same instrument as them, receive instruction on how to play two stand tunes, and bond over a shared love of their particular instrument. The connection between the middle school and high school band programs is a strong one, and we look forward to holding this event again next year!
