The Erinys Quartet stopped by for a special performance on December 5th.  They put on two performances, once for 5th grade and one for 6th grade & PreK.  Students loved listening to pieces and asking questions.  We thank Pat Masterson and the Delaware Valley Music Club for helping organize this great experience.

Update from ESL

The 5th and 6th grade ESL students at the Middle School on Location have been learning about literary devices to help enhance their writing.  They have been identifying literary devices in literature and discussing how authors use them to create moods and enhance imagery as well as engage readers.  Students demonstrated their understanding of literary devices by decorating a Fall-Themed bulletin board filled with examples of personification, metaphors, similes, onomatopoeia, alliteration, and repetition.

Multilingual Learners and their parents enjoyed an evening of family games, pizza, and cookies at the ESL Parent Advisory Meeting on December 4 held in the Elementary School.  Attendees circulated around a variety of board games, card games, and BINGO.  The event was well attended and enjoyed by all.

News from World Languages with Ms. Magnolia Perez:

The Spanish bulletin board during November and December is a collaboration of Special Area teachers and their subjects. For December the theme is the holidays: Santa visits Spanish class and the Los Tres Reyes Magos visit all the other Special classes. In this way, we are teaching our students about cross-cultures collaboration and fusion. Spanish class students will be contributing to the December bulletin board with decorations. (Note: SHRES Bulletin Boards are pictured below. SHRMS Bulletin Boards depict the same imagery).
