Science Lab

8th-grade students wrapped up their unit on States of Matter and Phase Changes by doing a series of mini-experiments with dry ice. Dry ice is solid CO2 and is unique in that it goes directly from the solid state to the gaseous state in a process called sublimation.  Students enjoyed the opportunity to work with dry ice by using it to inflate balloons, extinguish candle flames, make mini-rockets, and, of course, create spooky fog, which coincided with Halloween.

Middle School Band

Middle School Band Day

On October 3rd, the SHRMS Band students had the opportunity to join in on the fun at the Marching Eagles' 2nd annual Middle School Band Day. 11 of our middle schoolers observed the marching band field rehearsal, joined in on some fun section bonding, performed stand tunes with the high school marching band throughout the football game, and had a VIP viewpoint of the band's halftime performance. It was a great time for all, and we look forward to our 3rd annual band day next year!
