On Tuesday, March 10th, Hunterdon Prevention Resources visited our 8th grade health classes to discuss current trends in substance use and how different classifications of drugs can affect the body both physically and psychologically. Students also explored how substance use can impact not only the individual but the community as a whole, while learning strategies for making healthy decisions and resisting peer pressure in the future.

The presentation included an interactive activity in which students randomly selected a cookie that indicated whether it was safe or not, helping them understand the risks of substances when the ingredients are unknown. This visit marked the conclusion of our Hunterdon Prevention Resources series for the 2025–2026 school year. We are very grateful to Kathy Powick and Laurie Livesy for their time, dedication, and commitment to supporting the health and wellness of our students throughout the year.

To celebrate Pi Day, students in grades 5–8 participated in a fun and challenging competition to see who could remember the most digits of Pi. Students showed off their impressive memory skills and enthusiasm for math as they worked to recite as many digits as possible.

The activity was a great way to combine learning with friendly competition while celebrating this special math day. Congratulations to our Pi Day winner Sean Durborow for an outstanding performance and an incredible memory. Sean recited over 100 digits of Pi. The Pi day winner was able to Pi a teacher. Way to go Sean!

This season offers a great opportunity for students to stay active, develop teamwork and sportsmanship, and enjoy friendly competition.

Whether on the field, or track, our athletes are ready to give their best and represent our school with pride. We wish all of our middle school athletes a fun, safe, and successful spring sports season! Go Eagles!

Our agriculture students recently had a hands-on learning experience during a visit from an educator at The Watershed Institute in Pennington. During the session, students worked collaboratively in small groups to analyze water samples collected from Swan Creek.

They conducted a variety of tests, including measuring pH levels, to better understand water quality and the health of local ecosystems. This engaging, real-world activity allowed students to apply scientific concepts while gaining a deeper appreciation for environmental stewardship and the importance of protecting our natural resources.

March Madness Coping Skills

A "March Madness: Coping Skills Edition" tournament bracket is displayed on a brick wall with colorful envelopes.

Students have been eagerly participating in our Coping Skills March Madness bracket, displayed just outside of the Nook at the middle school.

Throughout the week, different coping strategies have gone head-to-head, challenging students to reflect on which techniques work best for managing stress, emotions, and everyday challenges.

From deep breathing to taking a break, each round has sparked thoughtful conversations and friendly debate. As the competition heats up, we’re excited to see which coping skill will come out on top—stay tuned to find out what our students vote as the ultimate winner!

Students in Math 7 and Math 8 participated in a fun math activity on St Patrick’s Day. In Math 8, students found the volume of the Lucky Charms cereal box and the plastic cup. Once they completed the volume exercise, they were able to enjoy a cup full of Lucky Charms! In Math 7, students set up ratios and found the percentages of the different marshmallows compared to the regular cereal pieces. Once they completed the activity, they were able to enjoy a cup full of Lucky Charms!
