Happy School Library Month - a time to celebrate the important role school libraries play in supporting literacy, curiosity, research, and lifelong learning. School libraries are more than just shelves of books; they are vibrant spaces where curiosity is sparked, creativity is nurtured, and lifelong learning begins.

Whether it’s finding the perfect book, collaborating on a project, or simply enjoying a quiet moment to read, the school library is a place where every person belongs and every voice can grow.

All year, our library/media center has been buzzing with activity. Recently, students and staff celebrated Read Across America and enjoyed several exciting events. Throughout the week, students took part in fun reading challenges that encouraged them to log their reading minutes and participate in book-themed activities. The challenges inspired many students to spend extra time exploring new stories.

The excitement continued as the library hosted the annual Book Fair in partnership with the PTO. Families and students had the opportunity to browse a wide selection of books, discovering new favorites. The event was a wonderful success and helped foster a love of reading throughout the school community.

In addition to reading celebrations, students have also been busy learning and exploring. Fifth and sixth graders are currently working on Passion Projects, where they research topics that genuinely interest them. From exploring fascinating historical events to learning about animals, technology, and creative pursuits, students are developing research skills while diving deeper into subjects they care about.

Additionally, seventh grade students recently completed a genetic disorder research project in the library, where they investigated specific conditions, gathered information from reliable sources, and practiced organizing and presenting their findings.

Adding to the excitement, more than 175 new books have recently arrived and will soon be hitting the shelves. These new titles will expand the library’s collection and give students even more opportunities to discover engaging stories, explore new topics, and find books that interest them.

Our library/media center continues to be a welcoming space where students gather throughout the day. Whether they are browsing for their next great book, researching for class, or simply enjoying a quiet moment, the library serves as a hub for learning and connection. It’s always a wonderful time to visit and celebrate everything it has to offer.
