Student of the Month & Swoop Star

We are excited to celebrate this month’s outstanding students! Congratulations to Illya Skyba, our Student of the Month, and Cole Junis, our Swoop Star!

Illya is an eighth-grade student, and Cole is a fifth-grade student. This month, both students exemplify our Character Strong trait of Responsibility by demonstrating the importance of being dependable, making positive choices, and taking ownership of their actions. They are wonderful examples of how responsibility helps us grow as students and contribute to a positive school community.

Please join us in congratulating Illya and Cole on this well-deserved recognition! We are proud of their efforts and the positive example they set for others. Keep up the great work, and continue to soar to new heights!

Alka-Seltzer Rockets: Science in Action!

A teacher guides a group of students participating in an outdoor science experiment near a school building.
Our students took science to new heights with the Alka-Seltzer Rockets activity! Students applied their knowledge of gas pressure to explore what happens when an Alka-Seltzer tablet is mixed with water inside a closed film canister. As gas built up, pressure increased until the lid popped off, sending the canister blasting into the air! This hands-on experiment brought science to life as students explored chemical reactions, gas production, and the power of pressure. What an exciting way to learn through experimentation!

Celebrating 10 Years Cancer-Free!

A smiling woman stands beside a table covered in pink donuts and cans, celebrating ten cancer-free years.
Open white bakery boxes filled with individually wrapped pink-frosted donuts sit on a table with a pink-and-white striped tablecloth.
The South Hunterdon Middle School Eagle family is celebrating a very special milestone! Mrs. Ryan, one of our wonderful P.E. teachers, is celebrating 10 years cancer-free! On October 23, 2026, the middle school community showed their love and support by wearing pink and enjoying pink donuts, of course! We are so proud to celebrate this incredible milestone with Mrs. Ryan and honor her strength, courage, and inspiring journey. Way to go Mrs. Ryan!

Exploring Future Opportunities at Polytech

Students and staff gather in a bright, colorful school cafeteria with large windows and digital screens displaying Hunterdon County Polytechnic.
Our 8th-grade students recently attended a presentation about Polytech, a vocational high school that offers a variety of career and technical training programs. During the presentation, students learned about the application process and explored the many programs available to them for the upcoming school year.

This informative session provided students with valuable insight into the opportunities Polytech offers as they begin thinking about their future educational and career pathways. Students will be meeting with Mrs. Joanne is our 7th-8th grade counselor throughout the year to support students as they transition to high school.

Hispanic Heritage Month

During Hispanic Heritage Month, middle school ESL students explored the rich cultures and histories of Hispanic countries through research projects.

Students gathered information about their chosen country, including famous people, cultural traditions, Independence Day, and interesting facts. They then created colorful, informative posters to showcase their learning during a classroom gallery walk, celebrating the diversity and contributions of Hispanic cultures.

Happy Boss's Day!

On October 16th, the Middle School celebrated Mrs. MacKnight for Boss’s Day. Thank you Mrs. MacKnight for ALL that you do for our staff and students. Hope you have a great day, we ALL appreciate you !
